Why our children NEED Yoga! (Yoga in Hounslow)

Today our children live in a “hurry up” world. A world of busy parents, school pressures, relentless lessons, peer pressure and endless competition in every aspect of their lives.

Then there are all the challenges posed by social media where every moment of their lives is up on the internet for all to see and judge.

Not to mention the pressure of keeping up in a volatile, ever faster paced world that’s rapidly changing through the constant leaps, bounds and advances of technology.

We lead ever more sedentary lifestyles. We play computer games, watch netflix and surf the web. Our children’s bodies fail to get the movement and exercise they need which impairs the proper development of their bodies and even their minds.

It’s not just physical challenges that our children face. There are numerous mental ones too. Technology has massively improved our lives but it has also created a world far different from the one our minds evolved for.

Children grow up in a world where following their natural instincts often leads to more harm then good. There are temptations everywhere and technology puts these temptations right in their face and right in the palm of their hands.

Mental attributes such as attention, focus, willpower, concentration, self discipline, creativity and insight are more valued and more important then ever before. The ability to make wise decisions is no longer a luxury. It is now a necessity.

In addition, children need to develop emotional intelligence. They need to develop greater compassion, kindness, love, empathy, intuition and a wide range of social skills. They have to be able to lead, inspire and work successfully in teams made up of people with increasingly diverse backgrounds, values, beliefs and ethnicity.

Yoga can help our children:

  • focus, concentrate and increase their attention span
  • develop willpower, motivation and self discipline
  • become wiser, more mature and better at making decisions
  • improve their emotional intelligence
  • become more spontaneous, intuitive and adaptable
  • stay calm in situations of uncertainty, pressure and stress
  • become more expressive and creative
  • be physically healthier, stronger and more flexible
  • stay balanced and grounded, both physically and mentally
  • be happier, more joyful, kinder, more compassionate, emphatic and caring
  • build social skills and end the feeling of being lonely and separate
  • develop a healthy lifestyle and habits that will last a lifetime

Yoga is a path to a healthy, happier and better life for us and all those around us.

The sooner in life we start walking it, the better.
