How to realise your full physical potential (Yoga in Hounslow)

How to realise your full physical potential (Yoga in Hounslow)

It’s hard not to be in awe of how imposing and strong some of the biggest trees look. The biggest trees look like they could easily withstand the strongest wind.

In reality the largest tree would easily fall if you removed its roots. The true strength of a tree is its roots. The roots of the tree give it stability and allow it to grow to its full and towering height.

We forget that because the roots are underground and not easily visible to our eyes

Our physical strength also has roots. We chase after strength, power, speed, agility and quickness but we fail to see the foundation we need to create to build these attributes.

We would never build a house without creating a firm foundation first. It would only be a matter of time before the whole thing came crashing down around us!

The roots of all of our physical attributes are mobility, flexibility and stability. This is why both Yoga and Tai Chi put such a heavy emphasis on developing all three of these.

Most important of the three is stability. Without stability we couldn’t lift heavy weights or change direction quickly. We would lack the control over bodies necessary to do our chosen physical activity.

In Yoga and Tai Chi we move slowly with complete control. We remain conscious of exactly what our body is doing and focus heavily on keeping good form in every movement. That way we can develop the stability we need to realise our full physical potential .
